This topic describes how to add a webcam overlay to your recording and customize its size and location.
Also, you can use the Chroma key effect.
It contains the following sections:
Enable Webcam for the recording
ScreenMix - Screen Recorder by Mixilab allows you to add a webcam overlay to your video.
To enable this feature:
- Click on the Webcam icon on the main app panel;
- Turn the Record webcam switcher on;
- Select the webcam device if you have a few;
- Click on the Start recording video.

To make changes to the webcam overlay, click Show webcam settings (or go to the Webcam tab in the settings).
Location and size
To customize the location and the size of the webcam overlay:
- Click on the App settings icon on the main app panel;
- Go to the Webcam settings in the sidebar;
- Go to the Location tab;
- Click on one of the rectangles in the Location selector to define a common location of your webcam overlay;
- Use the Size slider to change the size of your webcam overlay;
- Use offset sliders to make indents between the border of your video and the webcam overlay.

Style
Crop shape
To change the shape of your webcam overlay:
- Click on the App settings icon on the main app panel;
- Go to the Webcam settings in the sidebar;
- Go to the Style tab;
- In the Crop shape dropdown list, select shape which you like;
Draw border
To add a color border to the webcam overlay:
- Click on the App settings icon on the main app panel;
- Go to the Webcam settings in the sidebar;
- Go to the Style tab;
- Turn the Draw border switcher on;
- Click on the color icon to open the color picker;
- Select the border color.

Chroma key
To use the Chroma key effect:
- Click on the App settings icon on the main app panel;
- Go to the Webcam settings in the sidebar;
- Go to the Chroma key tab;
- Turn the Use chroma key switcher on;
You can customize the chroma key effect work in two ways.
The first way - using the standard color palette:
- Click on the Color palette icon (on the right);
- Select color for suppression;
- Use the Tolerance slider to increase or reduce color suppression;
The second way - using a color picker:
- Click on the Color picker icon (on the left);
- Select color for suppression by clicking on any point of your webcam preview;
- Use the Tolerance slider to increase or reduce color suppression;

Settings
To change the resolution and frame rate of your webcam overlay:
- Click on the App settings icon on the main app panel;
- Go to the Webcam settings in the sidebar;
- Go to the Settings tab;
- Click on the Video Capture Format dropdown list and select the parameters that you want.
Note! The Video Capture Format list and its available parameters depend on your webcam device.
